Fitness consequences of cousin marriage: a life-history assessment in two populations

چکیده
Abstract Cousin marriage, a spousal union between close kin, occurs at high frequencies in many parts of the world. The rates cousin marriage humans are concordant with empirical studies that challenge traditionally held view reproduction kin is generally avoided animals. Similarly, some theoretical models animal behaviour show inbreeding avoidance more constrained than previously thought. Such highlight importance quantifying costs and benefits among over whole life-course. Here, we use genealogical data from two human populations (the Dogon Mali, Ancien Régime nobility Europe) to estimate these potential benefits. We compare age-specific fertility survival curves, as well projected growth rates, subpopulations each type. Fitness present terms reduced child (in both populations), while exist increased for men Dogon) women nobility). also find differences lineages function Finally, discuss trade-offs might shape decisions different ecological conditions.

Life history and fitness consequences of ectoparasites
1. For iteroparous organisms life-history theory predicts a trade-off between current and future reproduction, and therefore the evolution of host responses to current parasite infestation that will maximize lifetime reproductive success. The parasite-induced variation in reproductive success is thus not the net result of parasite infestation alone, but the parasite-mediated outcome of optimal ...

متن کاملComparison of frequency of cousin and non-cousin marriage among parents of disabled and normal children
Cousin marriage appeared to have a significant role in the birth of disabled children. This is a comparative study on the frequency of cousin and non-cousin marriage among the parents of disabled children and parents of normal children in Kermanshah. In this Ex Post Facto research, employing simple random sampling, 250 parents of disabled children were selected, and the same sample size for par...
